The Bronx Documentary Center (BDC) is a non-profit gallery organization in the South Bronx to help students develop their visual storytelling skills and critical social issues. BDC’s mission is to share issues like immigration, justice, and education that people in the Bronx deal with through photos and videos. The Bronx Documentary Center was founded by photojournalist Michael Kamber and Daniella Jackson in the year 2011.

It has been used for workshops, film screenings, and youth programs since it opened. BDC’s mission is to drive social change by empowering people and speaking up for people through their photos. BDC has grown over the years by impacting positively in people’s lives throughout the years.

BDC has been doing photography exhibitions such as, Latin American Foto Festival (LAFF) which is devoted to the Latin culture, 1000 dreams, and School Shootings in America, which indicate how students and families are being affected by it. BDC also has workshops and classes offered to people like the Youth Photo League, and Language Photo workshops.

Wan has taken his photo and video class for the past 6 years to the BDC, and every trip has been helpful for students to see that their visual storytelling can be empowering.
