Liberty Beat Aces 92-78 in Dominant Performance

The New York Liberty, last year’s champion, defeated the Las Vegas Aces 92-78 at Madison Square Garden in this season’s first game on May 17th, 2025. Sabrina Ionescu led the team with 24 points and 7 assists, extending New York’s winning streak to four.

The Liberty controlled the game early, building a solid lead. Despite a third-quarter push from Aces, New York’s defense and offensive play sealed the win.

“We’re clicking as a team,” Ionescu said. “Everyone’s contributing.”

Jayden, a CSSJ student, who watched the game on YouTube, said, “They looked locked in from the beginning. The way they moved the ball and kept the pressure on—it was just fun to watch.”

With the victory, the Liberty head into their next road trip with momentum.  As of now, they’re ranked 2 but the season goes until September 9th. The next home game is today and the last home game is September 9th.
